We are excited to reveal the first speaker of the PHTT 2018 conference, Dr. Cother Hajat! Dr. Hajat is a public health physician and epidemiologist. She holds a MPH and a PhD in cardiovascular epidemiology from King’s College, London, and has extensive experience in public health, chronic conditions, epidemiology and applied research in both the UK and the UAE.
Previously, she was Director of Global Health Strategy at The Vitality Institute, Advisor for the World Health Organization and International Medical Director for Truven Health Analytics (part of IBM). Currently, she is leading the Multiple Chronic Conditions Advisory Board and is Advisor to the Chief Health Officer at IBM Watson Health.
In the UAE, she held roles as Advisor for the UAE government in Public Health, Chronic Disease, Wellness, Health Informatics and Research, Advisor on Public Health and Wellness for the UAE Child Health and Safety Initiative, Chair of Prevention for the Emirates Cardiac Society and Adjunct Associate Professor at the UAE University Institute of Public Health. She had also established the Weqaya Cardiovascular Disease Initiative in Abu Dhabi for breast cancer with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health.
She has spoken at various international scientific conferences and meetings, and has works published in international peer-reviewed journals, books, magazines and newspapers. Her works were featured at the UN General Assembly, World Economic Forum, World Health Assembly and The Economist. Some of her works are Weqaya: a population-wide cardiovascular screening program in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, A profile and approach to chronic disease in Abu Dhabi and Opportunistic Screening for CVD Risk Factors: The Dubai Shopping for Cardiovascular Risk Study (DISCOVERY).
In her talk on the first day of the conference, “The Burden from Multiple Chronic Conditions,” she will present about approaches to tackling multiple chronic conditions.
